Community Revitalization Alliance

Economic development is the process by which a nation improves the economic, political, and social well-being of its people. The term has been used frequently by economists, politicians, and others in the 20th century. The concept, however, has been in existence in the West for centuries. Modernization, Westernization, and especially Industrialization are other terms people have used while discussing economic development. Economic development has a direct relationship with the environment and environmental issues.

Whereas economic development is a policy intervention endeavor with aims of economic and social well-being of people, economic growth is a phenomenon of market productivity and rise in GDP.

In 2014, FCBCP added the community economic development component to its programs. Our community economic development component empowers community residents to develop and implement strategies for community economic development. Using the asset–based community development methodology in combination with the creative-place-making concept, we assist community residents to identify existing community assets that can be utilized for the development of their dis-invested communities. Through community partnerships, resident focus groups, and educational workshops and activities, we inspire and empower community residents to do the work.
